A young girl at the Gadhimai Mela where over 12.000 buffaloes were sacrificed to the Hindu goddess Gadhimai.

Thousands of worshippers traveled long distances to attend the month long festival honoring the Hindu goddess Gadhimai, an avatar of Kali, the fearful goddess of power and destruction.

The Gadhimai festival was initiated some 350 years.

Over the centuries the festival gained immense popularity among low caste Hindus who have no other options left than putting their faith in the worship of Gadhimai.
